As members of the North Island–Powell River and Courtenay–Alberni communities, we truly believe that the federal Conservatives and Poillievre pose an existential threat to Vancouver Island and Canada.
We are writing to ask you to commit to voting strategically to stop the Conservatives. In our ridings, this means voting NDP.

Would it not be better to vote Liberals to stop the Conservatives?
In some ridings, yes. But not in Courtenay–Alberni or North Island–Powell River! A Liberal candidate has not won here in 50+ years.
But I want Mark Carney to be the next Prime Minister so shouldn’t I vote for the Liberals?
The most effective way to help Mark Carney become Prime Minister is to prevent the Conservatives from winning the election.
The best way to prevent the Cons is to not split the vote.
Why is voting for the Liberals a bad idea here?
The NDP has had a stronghold here (and across Vancouver Island) for many years. Predicted Liberal votes are pulling that support away from the NDP. The splitting of the votes between the NDP and the Liberals actually allows the Conservatives to pull ahead of both parties. As a result, the Conservatives are leading in the polls.

Aaron Gunn is an appalling person who does not know what he is talking about. I was a child in the 1950s; my dad was a Mountie. I personally witnessed him steal First nations children from the Creston reserve. He would take us along to entertain us! Sometimes these kids would be brought to our house while he arranged train transport to whichever school for them. My mother would would berate and scorn them while complaining bitterly about r*****ns in our house. When the parents came looking for their kids he would tell us they were just drunk I****ns.
